I found 2 antique wooden chairs on craigslist / goodwill that I have been saving for an epic DIY transformation!EndFragment

StartFragmentBoth chairs had a loose arm. Now I'm sure any sane person would take 5 min to screw it in, but (obviously) that's too simple for my taste... I was inspired to combine the chairs into a bench!EndFragment

StartFragmentI took a hammer and knocked out the arms and seats. The shape of the seats are at an angle so I couldn't just put them together. I had my husband take out the front leg and side of one of the chairs. (When the chairs were side by side I measured the gap of the back of them (6'') then I measured 6'' off the front of the chair and cut it off)EndFragment

StartFragmentWe drilled in L brackets to combine the chairs together.EndFragment

StartFragmentSand and paint! EndFragment

Now for the seat. I traced the shape of the seat on a piece of plywood and cut it out.

StartFragmentI used 2'' thick square foot foam (Walmart) and cut it to the correct shape.

StartFragmentIroned it out, and placed the plywood upside down so I could staple it to the back.EndFragment

And done!
